Unsung Voices: 1,000 Years of Female Composers
Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms Western art music has always been dominated by men. But women have also made significant contributions despite the societal barriers stacked against them. In Unsung Voices: 1,000 Years of Female Composers, the Seattle Girls Choirs Prime Voci will explore some of these overlooked gems, including works by Hildegard of Bingen, Francesca Caccini, Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, Rebecca Clarke, and Imogen Holst. Also featured will be pieces by contemporary Pacific Northwest composers Joan Szymko, Karen Thomas, Jessica French, and a new work by Carol Sams.
