Renowned acoustic fingerstyle guitarist Tim Farrell has mastered the intricacies of fingerstyle guitar infusing craft, technique and melodic substance to create his own inimitable style. Join us when he visits The Living Room.
When Farrell gracefully evokes a melody from his acoustic guitar, you don't just hear it you feel it. He is among a rare breed of musicians who can make listeners experience music on a multitude of levels. His melodies captivate and enchant, while his playing expresses a simple elegance that celebrates the purity of the acoustic guitar. He is a highly accomplished guitarist whose roots and influences transcend genre.
Billboard magazine said Farrell "writes memorable melody lines that go beyond technique." John Diliberto, the host of Echoes on WXPN, says "Tim Farrell brings a melodic sensibility to his compositions that makes him stand apart from most of the fingerstyle crowd."
Farrell's song "Rosewood Alley" won Best Instrumental in the International Acoustic Music Awards. His songs "Joyride to Tranquility," "Kindred Spirits" and "Off the Cuff" have been finalists in the IAMA and USA Songwriting Competition. His compositions are included in the recent award-winning documentary films "Mona Lisa Is Missing," available on Netflix, and "A Small, Small Film," which is showing on the festival circuit.
Farrell's album "Cascadia" was named one of the Best of Echoes 2014 and was indicated for three Grammy Awards. His previous album "CODAS" was also Best of Echoes in the 2010 Echoes Listener's Poll. His album "Songs from Clarowood" was named a 2001 Essential Echoes CD and is enshrined on the Martin Guitar Company Wall of Fame. His 1998 album "SkyDancer" was also named an Essential Echoes CD and was honored by Billboard magazine with a Critics Choice award.
Farrell is a featured artist on compilation CDs including "Guitar Fingerstyle A NARADA Collection," "Best of Independent American Music" and "Echoes Living Room Concerts Vol. 7." His music receives regular airplay on broadcast, satellite and Internet radio, in flight audio, custom music services, etc ... and is featured on National Public Radio programs including All Things Considered, Talk of The Nation and World Cafe.
