BRÜKA THEATRE 26TH SEASON-"A CLASSIC REVOLUTION" Brüka Theatre's 9th Annual Performing Arts Summer Camp
July 8-21, 2019 For Ages 8-18
PLANET BRÜKA An Original Play Creation Workshop
Get ready for a truly inspiring dramatic experience in which young artists of a variety of talent levels are nurtured in a positive and creative theatre experience. Students are led by working theatre professionals in classes designed to develop imagination, concentration, and confidence with movement and dance, voice, technique, character, theatrical design, multimedia and appreciation of the theatrical artistic journey.
Participants will create an original play and be absorbed in acting tools, scene work, script creation, improvisation and dance/movement for two weeks while exploring and adapting an original story for public performances in July 2019. This is a special and unique opportunity to work with artists from Brüka Theatre to develop craft, focus and technique.
Open to 24 participants. Participants are responsible for providing lunch. Lunch ordering options are available daily. $250 for two weeks. Sign up by July 5, 2019. ($300 after June 10, 2019.)

4 Scholarships Available Write a 500word essay including and desire to participate in the Performing Arts Camp, prior experience and limitations.
Additional Opportunities Parents can volunteer to supervise lunches, bring snacks, administrate, stage-manage, and work the house for the performances, costume, and help with props.

ABOUT BRÜKA THEATRE In its 26th season in downtown Reno, Brüka has been named Best Theatre Company by The News and Review twenty one years running. Brüka Theatre is a leader in the region, recognized for its productions, artists and theatre for children series since its founding in 1992. Central to Brüka is the commitment to the re-investigation of contemporary and classic plays and developing new plays within Brükas Artistic Collective, which include winners of the Nevada Arts Council and Sierra Arts Foundation artist grants and 9 local best actor honors. Brüka is a non equity and notforpro it theater TCG small professional company that has produced over 100 shows in our downtown Reno location.
Workshop Artists: Mary Bennett Core Director. Improvisation. Acting. Creation. Producing Artistic Director Brüka Theatre. Works as actor, director, producer and Artist in Residence for The Nevada Arts Council and The Sierra Arts Foundation and works with teachers and students in arts integration Bennett has worked as a professional theatre creator for over 25 years. She has adapted Grimms Fairytales in workshops for children and adults and created original works for the duration of her theatrical career.
Alexander Biber Movement. Choreography Company member of the Sacramento Ballet. Alex also dances with Sierra Nevada Ballet, Capital Dance Project and recently choreographed for Sac Ballets Beer and Ballet. Alex has also worked as choreographer/creator on Brükas Buttcracker series and has been seen in numerous Brüka performances.
Lew Zaumeyer Set Design Lew had designed Brüka sets for over 15 years. Lew also works as an actor and board member at Brüka. An architect for most of his adult life, Lew also designed the new Reno Little Theater on Wells Avenue.
David Simpson Technical Director, Lighting & Sound Design Dave is the Technical Director for Brüka Theatre and has worked for over 20 years on the technical side of the theatre with forays onto the stage in shows including The Underpants and The Buttcracker series . Simpson has designed the lights for over forty shows while also designing sound and multimedia elements and has worked as the Technical Director for the Lear Theater and at different venues in Santa Rosa, California. Holly Natwora Viewpoints and Stage Movement Holly received her MFA from Columbia University where she studied with American theaters most innovative directors and performers. Holly has acted in more than sixty plays, most notably at La MaMa, E.T.C., SoHo Rep., The Neighborhood Playhouse and two summers at Joseph Papps New York Shakespeare Festival. After moving to Reno in 2005, Holly has performed or directed at Brüka Theatre, Reno Little Theater, Good Luck Macbeth and TheatreWorks of Northern Nevada. Currently she teaches theater at TMCC and is the Box Office Manager/Volunteer Coordinator at Brüka Theatre. A variety of other artists will work with students in acting, makeup, costuming , props, theatrical devices and playwrighting.
