Rehearsing in Rosendale
The Rosendale Theatre presents REHEARSING IN ROSENDALE, by Emmy Award Winner, Sean Roche, a new comedy about two friends who rehearse a play but wind up drawing more laughs and heart from the stories happening offstage than on.

REHEARSING IN ROSENDALE is the sometimes-autobiographical story of two actors who grew up in Rosendale back in the 60s and 70s. They get together to rehearse a new one-act play, only to become comically sidetracked by forgotten memories and cathartic crossroads that begin to rewrite the show theyre working on.  Set in the Rosendale Theatre itself, this is a warm and personal comedy about a true 50-year friendship and how growing up together, as kids in Rosendale, helped shape the stories they now tell and how they tell them.

Cast members include Brian Mathews and Sean Roche as themselves.  REHEARSING IN ROSENDALE is produced by the Rosendale Theatre Collective.

The play will be performed Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18 at 7 pm, and Sunday, May 19 at 3 pm. The Rosendale Theatre is located at 408 Main Street, Rosendale, NY 12472. Tickets are $15 in advance and can be purchased at rosendaletheatre.org. or $18 at the door. For more information: 845-658-8989

Founded in August of 2010, The Rosendale Theatre Collective, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is dedicated to preserving the historic Rosendale Theatre and enhancing the cultural life and economic vitality of Rosendale and Ulster County through film, the performing arts and educational programming.

About the Playwright/Actor: SEAN ROCHE was born into a theatrical family. His father, Eugene, was a well-known character actor in television and films. In 1974, right out of high school, Sean couldnt leave Rosendale fast enough. He sped west in a 69 VW van, following his family to Los Angeles, where he became a professional actor at the age of nineteen. Over the next four decades, Roche worked in the entertainment industry as an actor, writer, director, and award-winning producer. His credits include over 250 television shows, theater productions and films. Mr. Roche has been honored with the New York Festivals World Medal, as well as seven Emmy nominations in both Primetime and Daytime categories. In 1996 he was awarded the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Animated Series, for his writing and producing efforts on the acclaimed childrens educational adventure series, Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego.

About Brian Mathews: Most recent credits are The Weir (Jack) Our Town (Doc Gibbs) and Guys and Dolls (Harry the Horse) with County Players. Hes a founding Board member of the theatre and performed in the original musical adaptation On a Midsummers Night (Egeus); The Complete Works of Wm. Shakespeare(Abridged) (Ensemble) and multiple Radio Plays. Hes worked with New Paltz Summer Rep, River Arts Rep-New Works Series, Back Alley Theatre, Performing Arts of Woodstock and Pen to Stage Productions. Thanks to Sean for taking me along on this trip. I'm truly grateful for his friendship and sincerely envious of his talent.  And to Sigrun, for everything.
