Bio for Nuala S. Boyle:
Nuala Boyle has been a leader in the field of community-engaged teaching and learning in higher education since 1997, cultivating civically engaged and socially responsible students. Over the course of her tenure in education, she has managed multiple institutions community engagement and academic service-learning centers, the most recent at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY as the inaugural director of the Center for Civic Engagement. Holding this role since 2010, she was recently promoted to the role of Director of Civic Engagement and Experiential Learning Outcomes. At Nazareth, Boyle oversees curricular and co-curricular community engagement, the Center for Service-Learning, and co-chairs the College's Experiential Learning Steering Committee. In collaboration with the director of the core curriculum, Boyle assisted in developing, implementing, and now supports the Colleges experiential learning core curriculum requirement. Boyle's efforts enabled Nazareth to become nationally recognized for its commitment to civic engagement and experiential education through numerous awards. In addition to being a member of the Board of Directors for the National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE), Boyle is a graduate of NSEEs Experiential Education Academy and an active member on the Advisory Board for Campus Compact of New York and Pennsylvania. She earned her B.A. in English from Stonehill College in Boston, MA and her M.A. in Religious Studies from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT and lives back in her hometown of Rochester, NY with her three children.
