In a Southern city, Candy Roses quirky good friend, J.C., who dresses up as Broadway musical characters, introduces her to his 12-step recovery program. Once there, as she reluctantly deals with grief from her husbands death, Candy Rose meets Dylan, a younger man with brain trauma, in recovery for adult children of family dysfunction. In her loneliness, Candy Rose develops an unusual attraction to Dylan, looking beyond his unfortunate disability. He pushes her to confront a buried truth about her husbands death, and the two share a romantic interlude, until Candy Rose realizes shes doing him more harm than good. What begins as Candy Roses good deed to rehabilitate Dylan ends badly, and she realizes she must let go.
