The discussion will be led by Kate Krafft, a friend and former student of Janes who has been a leader in the field of historic preservation in Seattle for over 40 years. Well learn about Janes fascinating life and career through the decades. There will be an opportunity for Q & A. The event ends at 8:30 pm.
About Jane Hastings:
Architects around the world have long looked to L. Jane Hastings as an exemplar and professional leader in the field of architecture. She graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1952 and became one of the earliest women to be licensed as an architect in Washington state. She went on to become the principal of the states oldest woman-owned architecture firm in 1959 and was an influential member of the International Union of Women Architects in its formative years (and maintains active membership). In 1975, Jane became the first woman president of the Seattle AIA, and in 1992 she became the first woman Chancellor of the AIAs prestigious national honorary society, the College of Fellows.
