This is a FREE event on Wednesday, June 19 at 9:00 pm for the residents and business owners of Forest County. This is an opportunity for you to see the fireflies without the crowds. PAFF volunteers will provide a program specifically designed to help you understand and identify fireflies that are in our forest and backyards so that you can begin to answer frequently asked questions posed by your family, friends, guests and/or customers.
All participants should be prepared to walk both segments of the Firefly walks; Creek Excursion and Synchronous Viewing, a total of 2.5 miles. Bring drinking water and flashlights covered with red or blue filters. Wear protective clothing and sturdy footwear. Walking sticks and rain gear are recommended. Flash photography, cell phones and pets are discouraged. No smoking during the walks and synchronous viewing.
This is a rain or shine event, but in the event of severe weather or cold nighttime temperatures, the firefly viewing will be cancelled.
PAFF is a registered 501(c)3 and the all-volunteer board's mission is to educate the public and raise awareness about all the fireflies in NW Pennsylvania. Your donations are welcome and help to support our mission and summer research intern.
