APRIL 2019 JAZZ-A-FIRE GOES GOSPEL!!
The Memphis Black Arts Alliance has been delighted to present some of the BEST artist in the Greater Memphis area and beyond at Jazz-A-F!RE, held Every 4th Sunday of the month from 4-7pm at the Beautiful Brinson's Restaurant, located at 341 Madison Avenue, Downtown Memphis. Sunday, April 28, in celebration of Easter Month, Memphis Black Arts Alliance Goes For The Gold!  We will honor and celebrate the Queen of Gospel Music, herself, The Captivating DEBORAH MANNING THOMAS!!!

Deborah Manning Thomas, Memphis Queen of Gospel Music, is a native Memphian, that was mentored by Gospel greats Reverend Cleophus Robinson, Oris Mays, J. Robert Bradley and Mrs. Bessie J. McKenzie.  She was an original cast member of Dr. Erma L. Clantons An Evening of Soul inspiring many young African American artists and setting a standard of excellence in stage performance for all.  Al Bell and the late Isaac Hayes saw her brilliance and took her on, mentoring her at Stax Records where she was employed in production and sang on a number of legendary recordings, including Wattstax at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Her film acting credits include The Firm, and Hustle & Flow.  Her stage credits are many but most recently include the title role of Mahalia in the well known Hattiloo Theatre production, as her lyrical style has often been compared to the legendary singer, Mahalia Jackson. Deborah serves in leadership in Christian Education on a National level and is the proud member of Christ Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Gina M. Stewart. Her awards, acknowledgements, and recordings are many as she continues to captivate audiences throughout the midsouth and beyond.
Memphis Black Arts Alliances Jazz-A-F!RE is hosted by the Gifted Cequita Monique along with the cool sounds of Prime Cut Trio, as they usher us into the land of Smooth Jazz!  Our Living Legends Honorees croon us further up the road and then we end the evening by inviting you, our audience, to join the band on stage in our BYOI (Bring Your Own Instrument) full-out jam session!  There is nothing in the city like Jazz-A-F!RE!

Come Join Us for our Easter Celebration, Sunday, April 28, 2019 as we welcome and honor the Spectacular Queen of Gospel Music, Deborah Manning Thomas at Memphis Black Arts Alliances Jazz-A-F!RE, beginning at 4pm, at Brinsons Restaurant Downtown, 341 Madison Avenue!  For Information and Tickets, call, 901-948-9522 or visit our website at www.mbaafirehouse.org.
