Kevin Kern - Louis Landon solo piano concert
KEVIN KERN - Steinway Artist For more than a decade, Steinway Artist Kevin Kern has been synonymous with beautiful melodic music. A native of Detroit, Kevin Kern began playing the piano at the tender age of eighteen months. Though legally blind since birth, his exceptional talent soon became clear. The influences of lifelong friend and mentor, jazz great George Shearing, and Detroit Symphony Pianist Mischa Kottler helped Kern to develop an early love of improvisation and an appreciation for the beautiful sound a piano could produce.
Since the release of his phenomenally successful debut CD, In the Enchanted Garden in 1996, Steinway Artist Kevin Kern has developed his own musical voice. In the years since, his recordings have ranged from the classically flavored cinematic melodies of Summer Daydreams to the organic acoustic textures of The Winding Path.
One of the hallmarks of Kevin's recordings is the inclusion of piano solo pieces he refers to as "sound paintings". Spontaneously improvised in a darkened recording studio, Kern uses the piano to "paint" musical pictures of scenes which are often suggested to him in the moment, such as rowing a boat across a lake after a summer rain ("After the Rain"), or a star-filled night sky ("A Million Stars").
Six Billboard charting releases have established Kern as one of the instrumental genre's most successful composers and performers. A growing list of international film and TV credits has also helped him to garner a worldwide following. These credits include: NBC's coverage of the 2000 Summer Olympics, Oprah, The Late Show with David Letterman, Live with Regis and Kelly, PBS, popular international dramas such as "Autumn in My Heart" as well as commercials for companies including Mitsubishi and Blue Cross.
Concert tours have taken him throughout the US and Asia with performances in Korea, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan. Highlights have included an eight city tour with Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts in 2011 and a special performance for the G20 Summit in Seoul in 2010. In September 2013, Kevin will make his first visit to China.
LOUIS LANDON - Steinway Artist has dedicated his life to music. His passion is for peace. His career has taken him around the world playing a variety of styles with some of the most recognized names in the entertainment industry: classical music for Mikhail Baryshnikov on national and international tours, Latin music with "Pucho and his Latin Soul Brothers" on national and international tours, pop music with Rupert "Pina Colada Song" Holmes on television and national tours, rock & roll with John Hall, opening for "Little Feat" on national tours. For the past 23 years, through his production company, Landon Music, he has written and produced music for film, video, and commercials, including three years of "best plays" and "bloopers" commercials for the National Basketball Association.
Not long ago, Landon realized that his music - the solo piano compositions that bring him so much joy and peace, could surely bring joy, and particularly peace, to millions around the world. Louis Landon's mission is to create a more loving and peaceful world by writing, recording and performing, music from the heart. He has released 14 CDs on the LCI record label, his latest entitled "Sedona on My Mind," that was released in September 2013. He has just finished recording a new CD called "Solo Piano for Massage and Yoga" that is scheduled for release in January, 2014.
