The Faculties Concert
Come rock out with Greely High's teacher and staff band, The Faculties with special guests The Adjuncts (Nick Perry and Mike Wood)!
This musical project now known as the Faculties began quite harmlessly in the fall of 2013, when an occasional Wellness program offered Greely High School teachers and staff 90 minutes to improve (temporarily anyway) their mental, physical and spiritual health. While many chose walking or jogging, knitting or yoga, several colleagues agreed to play music together. Fortuitously, no one showed up with the same instrument, and this led to sporadic noodling and some breakthrough once-a-year performances. Six years on, the Faculties have grown in numbers and chops and this extracurricular juggernaut comes to the Mayo Street Arts Center on Friday, May 10, in the midst of their spring 2019 Better Late Than Never Tour, which includes stops at the Greely High School Talent Show, a special appearance at a Senior Project presentation, and a Battle of the Bands showdown with the middle school faculty band in early June at an annual district faculty/staff celebration (unfortunately not open to the public). A rock band for sure, the Faculties evolving repertoire of covers moves around the decades from early Kinks and later Beatles and Rolling Stones, to the Velvet Underground, Van Morrison, the Cars, Elvis Costello, Tom Petty, and many more. Dancing will be available. The Faculties are: Peter Scott (Social Work/drums), Sebastian Brenes (Spanish/bass), Barry Mothes (English/rhythm guitar), Andy Tureff (Social Studies/vocals), Doug Pride (Math/piano, keyboards), James Lasher (Instructional Support/lead guitar) Jason Curry (Social Studies/vocals), and Bobby Livingston (English/vocals).
