Music in the Age of Enlightenment
For a special summer benefit concert Crescendo welcomes the internationally-known ensemble Les Inégales [gobaroque.com] and the young, highly-acclaimed counter tenor Nicholas Tamagna [nicholastamagna.com] for a program of works by Handel, Vivaldi and other composers of the Baroque period. This performance will be held at a lovely and unique location - The Barn of the Prentices in West Cornwall, CT known to local patrons of the arts for its exhibits and musical performances. Following the concert, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served on a porch overlooking the property, and there will be a display of kinetic sculptures by Tim Prentice inside and around the barn. Christine Gevert (harpsichord) and Rodrigo Tarraza (flute) are the ensemble Les Inégales. Ms. Gevert is well-known as Crescendo's Artistic Director. Rodrigo Tarraza, a sought-after Baroque flautist, has performed throughout Europe, North and South America as a soloist. The New York Times has reviewed Nicholas Tamagna as an artist who "sings with a luminous countertenor." This season he sang the title role in Philip Glass' Akhnaten with the Indianapolis Symphony. He has performed in operas and as a concert soloist with many prestigious musical organizations throughout the country and in Europe. He will join Crescendo again in our November 2013 program, Before Bach. Concert is from 5 - 7:30pm Music begins promptly at 5:30pm See our website www.WorldClassMusic.org for more details on our upcoming concert.
