This presentation explains the complexity of Energy Code compliance with relation to opaque exterior wall assemblies and systems. The discussion focuses on the wet trades of 3 coat plaster/stucco, one coat stucco, and EIFS to comply with the California Energy Code.
Learning Objectives:
Understanding state climate zones and how they are assigned a maximum U Factor.
Explain air barriers per the CA Bldg Code and when are they required.
Discusses two ways of energy code compliance, the prescriptive and the performance method and their pros and cons.

Presenter: Bryan Stanley CSI, CEP
Mr. Stanley is the Architectural Specialist for the Technical Services Information Bureau (TSIB) and immediate past President of the Orange Chapter of CSI. He has been a guest speaker on plaster/EIFS issues in multiple states, with emphasis on the energy codes, building science and code compliance. Stanley has written several technical bulletins, articles and frequent guest lecturer on plaster/EIFS issues.
