Risk Everything
How far would you go for family?
Risk Everything is a dark comedy that offers a refreshing perspective on family life. Denise is trying desperately to become a respectable member of society - which means getting as far away from her grifter mother as she can. R.J., Denise's ex-con husband, is addicted to television and just wants to be a "good guy" for his wife. When Denise's mother shows up out of the blue with a fresh scheme, odds are it will not be a smooth reunion. Throw in an angry mob boss and a porn director neighbour and all bets are off. The family will find themselves risking everything and if they are not very clever and a little bit lucky, they could end up losing it all.
George F. Walker is one of Canada's most prolific and acclaimed playwrights and the Suburban Motel series one of his standout pieces of work. These plays deal with the plight of the underclass and the desperate and often ridiculous measures they resort to in their efforts to improve their lot. Walkers comedy is dark but intensely human, his characters flawed but irrepressibly hopeful and their relationships complex but grounded in love.
