CenterStage Theatre Company is proud to present Disneys Freaky Friday, One-Act Edition May 3 to May 12 in the CenterStage Black Box Theater, 901 Front Street, Louisville, CO
Directed by Luke Perkins, Music direction by Melissa Williams Music and Lyrics by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey Book by Bridget Carpenter Based on the novel by Mary Rodgers and Disney Films
Freaky Friday employs rousing pop-rock harmonies and fun choreography to breathe new life into this American classic in which a mother-daughter duo learns a valuable lesson on empathy by experiencing each others lives first-hand. Its based on the 1972 book by Mary Rodgers that has been adapted into several Disney movies. Performed by an energetic and talented middle school and high school cast, audiences can expect a hilarious, and often touching, modern take on the popular switcheroo tale about the ever-evolving process of growing up. At the show's core are the beautiful complexities of the mother-daughter relationship, what it means to be a family and how the power of empathy can improve every circumstance. The humor in the book translates well into this adaptation and plays an important role in the score, which audiences will find simultaneously catchy, soul-stirring and clever.
