Newport Art Deco Weekend!
Experience the Newport mansions in the age of the 1920s to 1940s at the 4th annual Newport Art Deco Weekend! This event takes place at Salve Regina University's Fairlawn Estate (aka Pell Center/Young Building). This beautiful estate was built in the 1850s and used as a private residence for most of its life until being converted for school and college use. With grand ballrooms and a vast lawn on Bellevue Ave, it is the perfect place to experience life in the art deco age. Period style outfits are suggested but not required.
Hold on to your hats cause we plan to take an exciting ride through the history of transportation in the Art Deco period! All forms of golden age transportation will be covered. This years event will feature classes on vintage travel, transportation related games, themed activities in town and free antique car rides all weekend! Feel free to bring your vintage bike, car, auto, horse, or boat!
This year's band for the Black-Tie Ball is the "Beantown Swing Orchestra"! This amazing big band will keep the floor thumping with all the best hits of the 1920's to 40's! Brush up on your dance skills with a dance lesson at 7:30 with instructors Todd and Beth from "Ocean State Swing". Also, a cash bar is included with the evening's show. For this year there are two ticket options, the "Full Saturday Ticket" for $75 or the "Black-Tie Only" $45 ticket for those unable to make the daytime portion.
Visit www.bostonvintage.org for full info and schedule. Weekend tickets available as well that include full accommodation!
