April 6th 2019 - IT'S A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGERS!
Complimentary wine and tapas at intermission.
Although George Frederick Handels great oratorio MESSIAH is today closely associated with Christmas, it was originally presented as an Easter offering in April 1742 in Dublin, Ireland.
On April 6, celebrating the 277th anniversary of Handels monumental work, ITS A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGERS at the Jarvis Conservatory will open with 4 selections from MESSIAH. These performances will feature vocalists Marcelle Dronkers and Sadie Sonntag accompanied by cellist Anwen Lin, and Music Director for the GRAND NIGHT series, Richard B. Evans. The evening will also feature Napa soprano Amber Marsh, soprano Daniella Caveney, a solo by cellist Anwen Lin, and a special appearance by the Casa Grande Singers from Casa Grande High School in Petaulma, California. Conducted by Sadie Sonntag, the choir includes 17 outstanding young vocalists selected for their musical abilities. In addition to Handel, the evenings panoply of composers includes J. S. Bach, Rimsky-Korsakoff, Edvard Grieg, Giacomo Puccini, and Mark A. Miller.
Accordionist Sheri Mignano will provide musical entertainment before the program and during intermission, and Music Director Richard B. Evans will host the evening and accompany the singers on the grand piano in the lovely jewel-box Jarvis Conservatory proscenium theatre.
IT'S A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGERS continues the first Saturday of every month at 7pm at the Jarvis Conservatory located at 1711 Main Street in historic downtown Napa. Tickets are $20 and available at the box office beginning at 6pm, with doors opening for General Seating at 6:30pm.
