Comedy Returns to El Rio! is a popular monthly comedy show, now in its 11th year. Produced by Kung Pao Kosher Comedy's Lisa Geduldig and taking place at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District, it showcases an eclectic multicultural mix of intelligent comedians from the Bay Area and beyond. Geduldig created the event in 2009 order to bring back to life a comedy show that used to take place in the 1980s and 1990s at El Rio.
The Friday April 19th show features Maureen Langan, Joe Klocek, Victor Pacheco, Dave Zugnoni, and Bernadette Luckett (Guest Host).

Joe Klocek is a square peg in a round hole sort of guy, raised a Midwesterner, so he has manners, but living in San Francisco for 20 years. He does two things great: tells stories and talks to the crowd. He did a two-month "comic in residency" at the first comedy club in Shanghai where he recorded an album exclusively for the ex-pat community living and laughing there. He has been featured on NPR's "Snap Judgment" and on Comedy Centrals "Live at Gotham," "Last Comic Standing," and was commentator for the Emmy award-winning documentary "A Bridge so Far." Co-creator of the critically acclaimed storytelling show "Previously Secret Information," Joe has also been a runner-up in the San Francisco International Comedy Competition and the "Seattle Comedy Competition and was voted "Best Comic" in the 2011 SF Weekly Readers Poll. Joe has performed at every major comedy club in the country including Alaska.
Bernadette Luckett (Guest Host) started doing stand up 20+ years ago in New York City after working as a professional model, a cookie packer, and a lab tech at a VD clinic. She worked the road for two straight years, performing at comedy clubs all over the US, from Alaska and Hawaii to Floridas cruise ships. She has appeared on stand up shows on NBC, Comedy Central, A&E, and MTV. Bernadette segued from stand up to sitcom writing and has been a writer/producer on several TV sitcoms, including Living Single; Sister, Sister; Buddies (with Dave Chappelle), The Tracy Morgan Show, and Girlfriends. She is a contributing writer to the comedic anthologies No Kidding: Women Writers on Bypassing Parenthood and SisterWriterEaters, and also co-authored the popular self-awareness book 21 Days of Enlightenments. She appeared in and co-produced the award-winning documentary Comedy Warriors: Healing Through Humor which aired on Showtime, PBS, Netflix and Hulu. Victor Pacheco is larger than life and larger than most comedians, yet he brings an unmatched energy to the stage to tell his real-life funny stories and observations. Meester Pachecos personal experiences as an educator, married man, and unhealthy-lifestyle-choice-maker fascinate audiences across the West Coast. Vics quick wit, exceptional one-liners, and warm personality have made him a favorite at comedy clubs, colleges, and theaters. He has worked alongside nationally touring titans of industry including Paul Rodriguez, John Witherspoon, and Josh Wolf. He regularly performs for Veterans of Foreign Wars and takes pride in entertaining the troops.
Dave Zugnoni blends an understated wit and devil-may-care attitude as he shares his absurdist opinions. He's a regular at Comedy Oakland, a winner of the San Jose Go Go Gong Show, a finalist in the 2017 KNBR Tommy T's competition, and a finalist in the 2016 San Francisco FunnyFest. He hosts monthly showcases at Vinyl Room in Burlingame and Winters Tavern in Pacifica.
