Austin Academy of Burlesque Unlimited July Class Pass
Choose your burlesque adventure with the following tracks and electives:
BEGINNER
Class I: 7/14, 1-2 (Same technique, different combination than 7/7 Class I) Dance Basics for Burlesque Release your inner burlesque starlet with an emphasis of classic dance techniques, statuesque poses and walks, and utilization of props all to sassy, swinging big band music. The class consists of a variety of stretches and warm-ups based on dance, pilates and yoga, followed by across the floor routines which utilize jazz, ballet and classic bumps and grinds in a short dance combination. For the full experience, please bring high-heeled shoes. Taught by Coco Lectric
Class II: 7/14, 2-3pm Origins of the Bump and Grind We'll teach you the origins of the bump and grind from belly dance technique to hula, Latin styles and even a bump session to African drums. American burlesque has taken a hint from fertility dances from all over the world and your instructor will bring it all together for you. Basic classic walks and poses will also be reviewed. Bring comfortable clothing that you can stretch in. Course taught by Coco Lectric
Class III: 7/21, 2-3pm The Cheeky Reveal Let's focus on the peel in this striptease focused workshop. Bring a men's button-down long sleeved shirt or a long-sleeved robe we'll teach you an introduction to striptease with a review of classic and modern techniques. One of the biggest challenges of striptease burlesque is creating and executing novel and tantalizing clothing peels. Cheeky chair work will also be covered. Your instructor will guide you through a history of classic burlesque through today and teach you some new and exciting moves that will inspire you to create your own. This course is designed for beginners and aspiring performers. Bring clothing you can stretch in and your long-sleeved shirt or robe.
Class IV: 7/28, 2-3pm Burlesque Master Class I Learn from an international burlesque star as they teach a comprehensive review of origins and classic burlesque technique. This class pulls together boa, glove, chair, stocking, shimmy, and bump and grind technique in comprehensive class. A warm-up and dance combination will also be included. Bring clothing you can stretch and dance in. Bring gloves, stockings, high-heeled shoes and a boa if you have them. These implements will be provided if you don't have them available. INTERMEDIATE
Class II: 7/14, 3-4pm Focusing on part 2 of number production. Students share song selections and themes. Development of a beginning, transition and resolution. Motivation and character will be emphasized. Course facilitated by Coco Lectric
Class III: 7/21, 3-4pm Students will outline their performance by utilization of costume, props and story in Intermediate session 3. A rough/improvisational performance will happen on this day. Focus on workshopping and collaboration. Course facilitated by Coco Lectric
Class IV: 7/28, 3-4pm Intermediate session 4 is a full dress rehearsal of your personal performance. Each performer will have time to ask questions and work with the instructor and students in the class to put the finishing touches on the number before the recital. Course facilitated by Coco Lectric
ELECTIVES
Modern Burlesque 7/14, noon-1 Are you wanting to learn how to express your sensuality and release that inner dance diva? Then come peel away your inhibitions in this fun, carefree class, where you'll learn to master sassy poses, walks, hip rotations and movement all your own. Everyone hears the beat of the music differently, and everyone moves their body in their own unique way. This class will give you the freedom to own that unique movement, while dancing to all genres of music. From class to class you will learn to work with props, striptease, and how to own the room with across the floor routines and short dance combinations. Come bring your personality to life, through performance. For best results, bring clothing you can stretch in, and comfortable high-heeled shoes. Class taught by Serese Brown
Musicality and Personality 7/14, 4-5pm In Musicality and Personality we find our personal style and flair while bumping and grinding to a variety of music. Learn how to use different music to inform a variety of movements and moods. Your instructor will guide you through a review of dance and burlesque movement while maintaining a fun and open environment. A simple dance combination will be used for a variety of songs with an emphasis on timing and effect. Diversity and variety of movement are embraced and encouraged. Taught by Coco Lectric

Kicks and Spins! In Burlesque? Oh my! 7/21, 4-5pm Did you ever wonder how to incorporate those awesome kicks and spins into your burlesque routine? Your instructor breaks it all down for you. This course is for performers with dance training who are wanting to up the ante in their routines with athletic, yet statuesque, poses, drops turns and kicks. The class includes an intensive stretch routine, bring a yoga mat if preferred. Wear clothing you can stretch in and wear knee covering if this is of particular concern. Taught by Coco Lectric
Tango Cabaret Tease 7/28, Beginner 3-4pm, Intermediate 4-5 Have you ever been moved by the passion of tango music? Have you ever witnessed the seduction of a couple's tango performance and thought, I want to do that! But how? This class explores ways to bring the elegance and drama of Argentine tango to a solo performance, no partner required! You will learn to make the world your paramour through every movement from footwork to posture and prop work. Class taught by Ruby Joule
Burlesque Master Class II 7/28, 4-5 Your international burlesque star and instructor teaches a comprehensive review of origins and classic burlesque technique. This class pulls together boa, glove, chair, stocking, shimmy, and bump and grind technique in this comprehensive class. Master Class II is an introduction to preparing a burlesque act to perform in front of an audience. This class will discuss story, character, motivation and musicality. A warm-up and dance combination will also be included. Bring clothing you can stretch and dance in. Bring gloves, stockings, high-heeled shoes and a boa if you have them. These implements will be provided if you don't have them available. Bring your own props and costume items for further discussion. Course taught by Coco Lectric
Additional courses added by popular demand will happen from noon to 2 or 5-6pm.
