Siren (Part I)
"Siren is... A loud sound; A prolonged sound A loud, prolonged sound A signal; A warning A signal of warning A loud, prolonged, signal of warning Ambulances, police cars, Or fire trucks, the alternating hi-lo signal its familiar Signaled when alerting the entire community of impending danger Before tornados, earthquakes, eruptions of volcanoes, Before the London Blitz Before the bombs fell like rain Before mothers had time to hide their kids Before memories are wiped clean ... Used to be a musical instrument."
"What's your siren?"
SIREN is the third installment of Harmony (now a trilogy), a sound sculpture project created with now over 100 voices around the globe. www.thearcticgroup.org/harmony2017 www.thearcticgroup.org/echo. This staged version of Siren is a workshop. It is not a play, nor is it a finished project. It is still growing, evolving, being defined and redefined. It is a social experiment, and a forum we wish to share between the creators and the audience members. Scripted portions of the show are written and devised by Ran Xia, Max Henry, Valentina Muhr, Ali Andre Ali, Conor Bell, Jenny Jarnagin, Sarah Walker, and Andrea Lopez. Lighting design by Ariella Axelbank.
