Woman have been an integral part of creation in art since the beginning. In choral music they are composers, arrangers, and have cast strong influence on the musical art we all love.
CANTICUS Vocal Ensemble takes pride in presenting this special performance of choral music composed, arranged and edited by women artists. You'll hear solid American themes such as "Hark, I Hear The Harps Eternal," arranged by Alice Parker and "How Can I Keep From Singing" arranged by Karen Thomas; the magnificent romantic sweep of "Hymn to the Sun" by Lilli Boulanger.
There will be earlier music, "O Virtus Sapientiae" by Hildegard von Bingen and "Im Herbste" by Fanny Mendelssohn. Contemporary music will be included in the program such as "Ffe Mwe Ffe" and "All the Works Of Love" by Oregon composer, Joan Szymco.
Tacoma composer Judith Herrington's "Star Tonight" and a new piece called "Gloria" by South Korean composer Hyo-Won Woo will be part of the evening's fare.
Join us for a variety of music created by women and enjoy the are of great choral music!
