Carol Mc Cann: MUSIC LESSONS
In her new show Music Lessons, Carol McCann celebrates the influences that made a lasting impact on her as singer/songwriter, a performer, and as a person. Through her signature mix of standards, rock, and original songs, Carol pays tribute to her enduring musical muses, Bonnie, Gladys, Jackson, and Ella, among others. Music Lessons also draws on Carol's own original songbook, including rarely heard early McCann Classics through the current day. Carol is joined by long-time Music Director John DiPinto, Greg Landes on drums, Marc Schmied on bass, and Mary Foster Conklin on supporting vocals.
Carol McCann has been seen and heard in the New York clubs for three decades. A writer member of ASCAP since 1991, Carol's music style has been playfully branded Urban Folk Rock and synthesizes elements of country, jazz, rock, and blues, with just a breath of theatricality. Her performances are known for their mix of standards, original songs, and the occasional twisted, re-worded classic. Her music has been featured in the BBC series BORDER CAFÉ and performed by fellow singers Mary Foster Conklin, Lisa Asher, Annie Hughes, and Lena Koutrakis. She performs with long-time accompanist and arranger, John DiPinto.
"A songwriter of impressive variety and depth . . . her work is filled with inventiveness, little surprises, and impressive quirks." Roy Sander, Backstage
"A respected interpreter of the heart, and a great interpreter of her own material . . .. . .Carol McCann delivers one heck of a package!" John Hoglund, Cabaret Spotlight
"Carol McCann has fans aplenty and rightfully so." Stu Hamstra, Cabaret Hotline
