Heartsmiths: Liz Miller, Debra Lee, and Julieann Ott
Join us for Heartsmiths: An evening of words and music shaped by the hearts of Philly area songstresses Liz Miller, Debra Lee, and Julieann Ott.
About Liz Miller: Don't let the North Jersey accent throw you. Maybe it's that unique combo of Grandma's Kentucky DNA that helps Liz Miller slip into and out of Americana, blues, and rock with native ease. The gravel in her deep voice would suggest a world weariness, yet her songs range from fun to awkward to profound. Miller is an award-winning songwriter with over 40 songs signed to publishers. Her songs have been placed in film and TV, and have been cut by several independent artists. She is one half of the bi-coastal alt rock band The Xconditionals (formerly Unconditionals) whose first recording was up for a San Diego Music Award! Miller is a voting member of the Grammy Association and currently co-coordinates the Philadelphia Chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), helping to educate on the craft and business of songwriting. Miller has recorded CDs in multiple genres including jazz/lounge, alt rock, Americana, and an Off-Broadway Musical for new mothers; she does it all and loves it all. About Debra Lee: Singer-songwriter Debra Lee has been active in the Philly area songwriter scene since the beginning of the century, performing both regionally and nationally as a solo artist and as the female lead in husband/wife duo Lyra Project. Her songs run the gamut of sacred to irreverent, sharing observations, insights, heartbreaks, and hopes, to bring a laugh, a tear, and a little light. Also a professional singer and vocal teacher, Lee has coached area songwriters, performing, and recording artists; has presented vocal workshops; and has numerous credits on artists recordings as a background vocalist. She has been a coordinator for the Philadelphia area chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) since 2007, facilitating workshops and performance venues for regional songwriters. About Julieann Ott: Julieann Ott has been performing shows and doing open mics in and around Philly, the northwest Philly suburbs, and beyond, working on her craft and finding her voice. She describes her style as rootsy pop, with a sincerity that honors her varied influences who include Patty Griffin, Aimee Mann, Suzanne Vega, and Sheryl Crow. She creates vivid imagery in her song-stories that evoke introspective singer-songwriter/folk/Americana that take unexpected melodic turns that hook you in. Her voice is sweet and nuanced one minute, a punch to the gut the next. For more information visit tinyurl.com/julieann-musicnoth8.
