Matt & Shannon Heaton at CranFest in the Courtyard
The Heatons are an integral part of Bostons vibrant traditional music scene. Shannon co-founded Bostons Celtic music fest and served on its board for 15 years, creating performance and mentoring opportunities for hundreds of traditional musicians and dancers. She currently hosts and produces the culture podcast Irish Music Stories, and she was named Massachusetts Traditional Artist Fellow in 2016.
Matt has performed with countless ensembles, including the Karan Casey Band, Boys of the Lough, and Robbie OConnell. In addition to his acclaimed work as an Irish accompanist, Matt has also received multiple Massachusetts Cultural Council Grants for his work with kids.
Matt and Shannon are comfortable onstage and have a warm connection with their audiences. They are world class American performers with Irish roots and universal appeal.
Matt & Shannon Heaton have a way with Irish music that melds the heart of the native tradition with a fine understanding of how this wrenchingly lovely music took root on our continent. Shannon, a singer with shamrock-perfect intonation and a wooden flutist of incomparable flair, is an absolute phenomenon. Matt deeply understands the Irish soul and finely woven fabric of the style.
