Sol y Canto at CranFest in the Courtyard
Listen to songs from across generations, cultures, and continents, all sung from the heart in English and Spanish by the Boston-based Amador family. You won't want to miss their live energy and amazing three-part family vocals in person if you're within striking distance.

Come marvel in the music of Brian, Rosi and Alisa Amador of the renowned Latin band Sol y Canto, award-winning interpreters
and composers of Latin roots music to change the world: passionate, poetic, playful and honest. Think heart-melting three part harmonies and adorable family stage banter that about sums the Sol y Canto trio up. Rosi and Brian founded Sol y Canto in 1994, so you'll be helping them celebrate their 25th anniversary. You don't want to miss that either :) Their website is: www.solycanto.com

And wait 'til you hear their 23-year old daughter, emerging singer-songwriter Alisa Amador, playing Alisa originals like
Never Seem To Last, a danceable, happy breakup song, and Talkin'. She was a featured artist as contestant to NPR's Tiny Desk Contest and won the Tarrytown (NY) Rock the Hall Competition, with judges including Bonnie Raitt and Bob Dylan's producer, who has been recording her originals for an upcoming second EP. Rosi and Brian will join for harmonies, too. Her soulful singing, poetically honest lyrics, and syncopated rhythms may lead you to cry, laugh or dance all within one set. You can hear more of Alisa's songs on https://alisaamadormusic.bandcamp.com/

Puerto Rican/Argentine singer and bongo player Rosi Amador and New Mexican guitarist and composer Brian Amador are known
for quirky original compositions that address matters of the heart, social and global aspiration, and their unique and driving interpretations of contemporary Latin music. Brians guitar style combines flamenco, classical, Cuban son, Latin American styles, and jazz. Rosi has been deeply influenced by popular Latin music, flamenco, jazz, North American folk, blues and contemporary African vocal styles. The two are joined by their daughter Alisa, a singer/songwriter/guitarist who has been blowing audiences away in the U.S., Argentina and Puerto Rico, inspiring comparisons to Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, and Norah Jones.

Sol y Canto is the nationally-touring and Boston Music Award winning Pan-Latin ensemble led by Puerto Rican/Argentine singer and bongo player Rosi Amador and New Mexican guitarist and composer Brian Amador. featuring Rosi's crystalline voice and Brian's lush Spanish guitar. The group has established a reputation for their quirky original compositions that address matters of the heart, social and global aspiration, and for their unique and driving interpretations of contemporary Latin music.

Since 1994, Sol y Canto has brought audiences to their feet from the Kennedy Center to the White House, the California World Music Festival to Boston's Symphony Hall, Puerto Rico's Museo de Arte to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Boston Globe hails them "sublime ambassadors of the Pan-Latin tradition" and their many accolades include Best of Boston for Latin rhythms by Boston Magazine and Outstanding Latin Act by the Boston Music Awards. Music critic Norman Weinstein of the Christian Science Monitor and Boston Phoenix observes:

"Every Sol y Canto album is a demonstration of what the poet Federico GarcĂa Lorca identified as "deep song. Always they evoke the sensual splendor of simply being vitally, vividly alive in a magical and mysterious universe. Brian Amador is a Spanish modernist poet in the guise of a musician...Together, Rosi and Brian Amador create a musical marriage made in heaven."

Sol y Canto's mission is to create music and performances that move, delight, excite and connect - connect the audience to the richness of Latin American culture; connect individuals, Hispanic and non-Hispanic, to each other through shared experience of music, poetry, humor and a joyful, playful vibe; and connect us all to our hopes and visions of a better world.
