Dave Stringer Workshop "Mantras & Molecules"
From the perspective of Eastern philosophy, the bliss we are seeking is already inside of us. From the perspective of modern brain science, this is also a true statement. Bliss can be understood as an electrochemical state that the body itself produces, and it is a state that we are apparently hard-wired to seek.
Chanting mantras, drumming and dancing enable participants to enter a flow state. This unitary state of consciousness is the zone that athletes and artists speak of. It's where you feel and perform your best and are at one with what you are expressing. Action feels effortless, time ceases to be important, and focus becomes so complete that everything else falls away.
This workshop explores the neurochemistry of ecstasy via direct experience of singing, drumming and meditation, combined with presentations and discussions on the emerging brain science of how music and yoga practices influence and alter our perceptions, mind and spirit.
