JÚRAME (Promise Me): Spain and Latin America in Song
Vertical Player Repertory's miniatures Behind the Door Salon Series presents JÚRAME (Promise Me): Spain and Latin America in Song.
Noted Uruguayan-born pianist, conductor and composer Pablo Zinger, dubbed "the King of Zarzuela" by Opera News, will be joined by two exciting young Latin American singers, Venezuelan-born soprano María Brea and Ecuadorian-Puerto Rican-American mezzo Linda Collazo for a full program in Spanish celebrating the passion, depth and joy of Latin American and Spanish music.
The music will include arias and duets from Spanish and Latin American zarzuela and opera, art songs by such composers as Xavier Montsalvatge and Joaquín Rodrigo, and a group of songs by noted Latin American women composers Consuelo Velázquez (Bésame mucho) and María Grever (Júrame and Cuando vuelva a tu lado).
