"I'm Coming" Workshop Series
Are you a local LGBTQ woman with a coming out story to tell? If so, take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to train with professional theatre artists!

Whether you are an LGBTQ woman who has been out or is contemplating coming out, or simply an ally who knows someone who has come out, you know that there's always a story associated with the experience--and we want to hear it! Some coming out stories are empowering and inspiring; others are alienating and heartbreaking. Some coming out stories are juicy while others are, um, anti-climactic. But they all have two things in common: They are valid, and they openly express truths about someone's gender and sexual identity.
The personal narratives of men, whether gay or straight, have dominated history. With "I'm Coming: A Performance Project," Thinking Cap Theatre, in association with Thou Art Woman and community partner Ignite South Florida, will enrich our local history by shedding light on the coming out stories of LGBTQ women and their allies in the South Florida community using the medium of theatre.
Since its founding in 2010, Thinking Cap Theatre (TCT), Fort Lauderdale's award-winning professional theatre company, has programmed plays that speak to the lives of the LGBTQ community. Now TCT will be working directly with this community to craft brand new short plays! With "I'm Coming: A Performance Project," made possible in part by a grant from Our Fund, Thinking Cap will continue to honor its commitment to empowering women through theatre and promoting acceptance of diversity on- and off-stage.
The full scope of the I'm Coming Project will include:
An All Day Theatre Workshop led by a Team of Theatre Professionals on Saturday, April 13th, 9am-5pm.
Two (2) Writing Workshops on April 17 & April 29th, 7-9:30pm (Approximately 12 scripts generated from this process will be selected for production (4 performances in total) at The Vanguard the weekend of June 13- June 16, 2019)
Rehearsals: May 27 - June 12, 2019
Performances: June 13 - 16, 2019, 7:30pm

Mixer Attendees who wish to register after the Mixer will be provided a discount code to enroll in the project online for $65 for one week after the launch event (until April 4th).
After April 4th, enrollment will be at the full tuition of $75.
