Neil Simon's Lost in Yonkers
Red Curtain Foundation presents "Lost in Yonkers," a seriocomic play set in 1942 Yonkers, New York.
"Lost in Yonkers," by America's great comic playwright, introduces us to the Kurnitz family. Bella is thirty-five years old, mentally challenged, and living at home with her mother, stern Grandma Kurnitz. As the play opens, hapless son Eddie deposits his two young sons on the old lady's doorstep. After losing his wife, he is financially strapped and taking to the road as a salesman. The boys are left to contend with Grandma, with Bella and her secret romance, and with Louie, her brother, a small-time hoodlum in a strange new world called Yonkers.
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m., for the three-weekend run April 19-May 5.
