Hayom harat olam: TODAY is the beginning of something completely new.
Rosh HaShannah and Yom Kippur, the Days of Amazement and the spiritual new year, are the embodiment of possibility and hope, affirming that we have within us both immense goodness and immense potential (okay, and also some existential shmutz that we can stand to clean out at least once a year).
We can grow, change, forgive and be forgiven, love and be loved. We can sing, dance, meditate, study, pray, laugh, and envision ourselves and a world that is more whole, more joyful, more fully realized. That's what we're going to be doing together at Mishkan Chicago this High Holidays.
*New this year* Get Higher for the Little Jews- kids' programming that mirrors the spiritually and intellectually engaged experience that we're creating for adults and will include nature, art, shofar-blowing, reflecting and moments of connection with the adult service.
We'll be using a traditional liturgy and will provide transliteration guides for songs and pieces throughout. We're thrilled to be back at the Bodhi Spiritual Center this year, 2746 N. Magnolia.
Finally, last year we had over 500 people sign up for 450 seats. We're adding chairs, but if the buzz from last year is any indication of what to expect this year, we encourage you to get your MishKards now and share the excitement with friends early (practically speaking, share the website with friends now and tell them to join you at shul this year!).
We wants everyone to be at High Holidays! So, if for any reason you are unable to cover the costs of MishKards, contact jare@mishkanchicago.org and we'll work with you to make sure you have the Get Higher experience you're looking for
Let's make 5774 a year of renewal, growth, and illumination. Join Mishkan to Get Higher.
