The Sea The Sea with Blackmer at Light Club Lamp Shop
The Sea The Sea

The Sea The Sea is an Upstate New York-based indie folk-pop duo-band featuring what Huffington Post calls, Two of the loveliest male-female voices you might ever hear this or any other year. Their 2014 debut release, Love We Are We Love, received praise from NPR, American Songwriter, and No Depression, among others, gathering over 15 million streams on Spotify. The animated video for their song "Waiting" sparked viral interest including Buzzfeed, Pitchfork, and inclusion at the international TED 2015 conference. Mountain Stage host Larry Groce calls them "ready to take their place among the best young male/female duos now performing." Their 2016 release, the six-song EP In the Altogether, recently earned features by Apple Music including Best of the Week and A-List Singer/Songwriter.

Blackmer
Blackmer is the musical brainchild of Sam Dupont (The Dupont Brothers, SoundBrother). The indie-experimental-folk artist pushes and bends genre boundaries with emotionally transparent lyrics, beaming vocal delivery and augmented acoustic fingerstyle guitar reminiscent of Nick Drake, Sufjan Stevens and Sam Amidon. Lyrically speaking, Blackmer songs seem to explore the deepest nuances of what it means to be human. Each song is orchestrated in a way that encourages the listener to explore their inner monologue with pellucid depth and curiosity.

The debut album, Rinse.Repeat, was released on all digital platforms in February of 2019. Vermont based producer, Michael Chorney (Anais Mitchell, Holler General, viperHouse)  worked closely with Dupont in crafting a stunning solo premiere. The body of workflows like a concept album. Music journalist Robert Resnik (VPR, 7 Days) describes Rinse & Repeat as such.  The entire 25-minute recording is a more or less unified whole in the tradition of Van Morrison's Astral Weeks, where each track melds into the next  and where DuPont challenges the listener to determine what it all means.
