Glass Fusion Scraps Open Studio

Resident artist Donna Smit will teach this workshop incorporating scraps of glass to create sun catchers, coasters, magnets, or yard art. This technique will be very similar to creating mosaics using nippers and placing small pieces of glass to create a picture. Each student will create one piece 3 x 8 with options to create additional pieces. Glass cutting experienced is not necessary as we will mostly be using nippers. Each student will learn glass cutting, copper inclusions and different techniques to use up glass that is considered scraps. The student will also learn about the types of glass; transparent and opaque and the use of stringers and frit. A shorter lecture will be given than the glass fusion basics class. Limited to 8 students. Each additional piece is $10 payable to the instructor at the time of the workshop.

Class is appropriate for ages 12+ with glass cutting experience.
