2019 Mobile Arthouse Film Series: The Anthem Of Our Souls
Executive Producer and West Side Alumni Peque Brown brings us The Anthem of Our Souls a film which combines the creative process of a community collaborative mural, with stories depicting the issues on the hearts of the collaborators. Instead of "talking head" interviews, the storytellers use poetry, song, drama and rap to communicate the film's points of view.
Paired with Kiana Harris AJE IJO Rivers of Nine a powerful allegory that centers the humanity, resiliency, vulnerability of black & african diasporic people [of all genders]. The lm elicits elements of African diaspora, particularly those that emerge from the Yoruba divine consciousness.
Post screening discussion with the filmmakers.
