AIAOC Lunch Program -COTE: Improving Quality of Life with Biophilic Design
Course Description:
This seminar will present the beneficial impact of plants in different environments. How people are affected by the air quality in an atmosphere, how plants can improve health benefits, increase work productivity, and have positive psychological benefits as well.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will learn about Bophilia, our innate human tendency to create close connections with nature by designing atmospheres with plants. Attendees will understand various physical side-effects of air quality and how it affects body/ brain functioning and performance. Attendees will see how improved productivity in a work space is evident through air purification by plants. Through demonstrations, attendees will observe different living plant wall systems that provide maximum wall coverage to create plant filled atmospheres, utilizing the most space for indoor and outdoor plants (especially beneficial for urban environments.)

Georges Fortier- Influenced by his French-Canadian origins and motivated by his love for nature Georges founded and launched TrueVert in 2010 from the ground-up. With a background in the hotel and restaurant industry, Georges has always been striving to improve the quality of atmospheres. Since then, Georges has put his heart and soul, developing and researching Living Walls system for interior and exterior spaces enhancing the landscapes of residential and commercial buildings all over Southern California.
Jana Kang- With a background in Fine Art and a passion for gardening, Jana has been cultivating a wide range of creative skills through garden design with True Vert. Jana has had much experience in growing and cultivating a wide range of plants by growing medicinal herbs from seed, to harvest, and extraction and continues to garden with the intent of creating a healing atmosphere. She currently designs vertical gardens that are best suited for the climate of each atmosphere from succulents, tropical indoor plants, and moss.
