AIA Orange County Presents: Design Talk with Christian Flindt
Sponsored By: PLP/Prudential Lighting Products and & Louis Poulsen
A lighting, furniture and industrial designer living in Copenhagen Denmark, Christian Flindt graduated with an MAA and MDD from Aarhus School of Architecture in 2002. He then started his own design company in 2003. He will share his understanding of the silent quality of light and the differences he has found between luminaire design and furniture design. He will explore what inspires him, his courage to experiment, and how he has come to create outdoor lighting with the same elegant and sculptural light quality as its indoor counterpart.
Copenhagen-based lighting, furniture, and industrial designer Christian Flindt (b. 1972) has established an international reputation with his fresh, daring designs, and an experimental approach.
Flindt graduated with an MAA and MDD from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 2002 and opened his design studio in 2003. He began working with Louis Poulsen in 2006 and has designed the Flindt Bollard, the LP Grand pendant, LP Xperi Post, and the Flindt Wall. His work with LED design has repeatedly highlighted his ability to connect disparate fields such as lighting and furniture design.
Flindt has earned numerous prizes for his work, including the Bolig Magasinet Design Award for his Flindt Bollard for Louis Poulsen, and the 2014 ELFORSK Prize from the Danish Department of Energy and Electricity for the Flindt Bollard.
