In May 2019, Wolfs Head will bring to the Ore Dock Brewing Company (114 West Spring Street, Marquette MI 49855) Pookie Goes Grenading by J.C Lee. Our story follows 14-year-old comic book hero/revolutionary/bad mofo Pookie as she stops at nothing (and we do mean nothing) to put on her play- proving great art doesnt come at a finite price. She gathers a rag-tag group of losers, including her high school counselor, to assist her. They laugh, they cry, they throw grenades. They learn to love. Cuz you cant make art without he(art). Or fire.
In July of 2019, Upper Peninsula Shakespeare Festival returns with Anton Chekhovs The Seagull, performed at the Depot, (204 South 5th Street, Marquette MI 49855). Chekhovs beloved and classic slice of life play proves the long-standing formula of comedy equaling tragedy plus time. Chalk full of sumptuous characters portrayed by local favorites, our story studies the frustrating facets of bitter dissatisfaction, the ridiculousness of the human spirit and ultimately the inevitable and ironic satire of it all. Thats The Seagull- thats life!
In October 2019, Wolfs Head howls back to the Ore Dock Brewing Company (114 West Spring Street, Marquette MI 49855) to take a bite out of the delectable, seductive horror cartoon of Quills by Doug Wright. Sinfully sensational and eccentrically perverse, our tale immerses you into the middle of Charenton Insane Asylum circa 18th Century France- your bunk-mate? The infamous writer, the Marquis de Sade, imprisoned for the rest of his life for unmentionable activities. The triangular battle of wills between the Marquis and two physicians of differing treatment plans/opinions will leave you disturbed, sidesplitted, exhilarated and questioning.
