Introduction To Improv Course (101) [Edinburgh]
Overview: Watched improv comedy and thought "I'd like to give that a try"? An actor looking to train up on ever popular improv skills? Needing help with public speaking skills? Just wanting to be comfortable not knowing what'll happen next?
Whoever you are, whatever your background, if you're wanting to learn the skills of improv from the start and to be left with a solid grounding in improv, then this is the course for you.
Over 8-weeks, discover - through the supportive, collaborative process we call improv performance - how to create stories, characters and ideas to captivate an audience right before their eyes. Develop those public speaking skills to allow easier and more natural dialogs with your audience. Learn how to relish the opportunity to embrace the unexpected!
Topics covered by workshop: - Trusting yourself and others - Yes And - Giving and receiving offers - Spatial understanding and physical awareness/mime - Gibberish and Non-verbal communication - Character - Status - Finding and emphasising 'the game' of comedy/improv
Dates and Times: Classes will be every Wednesday evening, 7-9:30pm, from 17 April 2019 - 12 June 2019 (no class 01 May 2019)
