Your favorite boat party is back, and we're pulling out all the stops with the second BassBoat of the summer! This time around, we are bringing in three amazing producers to rock the boat! Definitely not a BassBoat to be missed! __________________________________________________________
Featuring:
- An-Ten-Nae - Muti Music / Acid Crunk (SF, CA)
An*Ten*Nae is one of San Francisco's most sought after DJs and live performers. He has taken the art of live remixing to new heights with his own customized setup, that bends genres in ways seldom heard. This sound is called Acid Crunk, and there are no rules, no restraints in its quest for pure BASS devastation.
An*Ten*Nae is a low frequency emitter transmitting and remixing music on the fly, giving him the ability to transcend above the constraints of music rigidity and transmit bass heavy, crunked out beats of the highest order. HisGenre bending, "Acid Crunk compilations" have set the standard and has defined an era with over 1,000,000 downloads to date. Picking up steam in 2009 Acid Crunk Vol. 2 maintained the # 1 seller in Dubstep, Electronica and Chillout genres simultaneously while also having all 14 tracks in their respective genre top 10, as well as rocking the charts on iTunes, Juno Digital and a host of other sites. With an album in the works and the ever growing Acid Crunk series running at full steam, we see no end in site for the ever changing chameleon known as An*Ten*Nae.
- Desert Dwellers - Moontribe / Desert Trax / YogiTunes
Desert Dwellers are a one of the foremost influences in a genre that they basically expanded from the ground up to be where it's at today. With a blend of a variety of sources that have been composed to form a heavily weaved set of sounds that coincide in perfect harmony together Desert Dwellers has established themselves in not only their home area of Southern California and New Mexico but across the globe.
Taking a new approach on digital production, the main members Amani Friend & Treavor Moontribe have combined the raw sounds of the natural world with skillfully blended deep bass, earthy percussion, etheric voices and culture crossing instrumentation into sonic incense for the mind and body. With this blend of dance tracks and down tempo sounds they have enabled themselves to give a heightened sense of being to listeners through their musical medium.
Bringing the electronic bass music vibe to the yoga scene, and the sounds of yoga to the electronic dance scene, Desert Dwellers' global sounds are the bridge between worlds. Joining solid groove with sounds of serenity, their signature aesthetic feels as natural on the dance floor as it does after hours or on the mat. Due in no small part to Desert Dwellers' pioneering spirit, the very concept of chill-out and sacred bass music has expanded dramatically. These sound alchemists offer cutting edge techniques that blend the modern edge of electronica with ancient and organic sounds, offering a spellbinding hybrid with echoes of our tribal past and future. The result has been the prolific production of genre blending dance tracks and downtempo grooves that make for truly memorable listening experiences.
- Drumspyder - Dakini Records (Oakland CA)
Scott Sterling's inspiration is the drum and drumming, the creation of rhythm with the human hand. Equally important is the primal connection between drummer and dancer. An expert percussionist of many years training, he is immersed in rhythm and all its modalities, from the hypnotic, trance-inducing pulse to the energy of ecstatic dance.
Bringing the drums to bellydancers, yogis, and the emerging transformational festival culture, Drumspyder weaves the rhythms and tonalities of the Mediterranean and live Arabic percussion into his own style of electronic dance fusion, distinguished by its funky, (belly)danceable grooves and rhythmically intense, percussion-driven sound. He works in a broad range of tempos - ranging from slinky, sexy downtempo through funky mid-tempo whomp to high-energy tribal house. He is also ready to collaborate with dancers or other types of stage performers in improvised Arabic-style drum solos or choreographed pieces.
Originating in San Francisco's crucible of bellydance, bass culture, and world music fusion, Drumspyder has released 3 albums worth of original music (most recently "Kytheria" on Dakini Records) and is a prolific remixer, lending his signature live percussion and melodic touch to the Desert Dwellers, the Spy from Cairo, Mirabai Ceiba, and various traditional Arabic ensembles, with many more on the way. In addition, his music has been featured in numerous dance DVDs and theatrical productions. A second full-length album is in the works for 2013.
Highlights of 2012 live appearances included the Symbiosis Eclipse, Movement Play, and Rise festivals, opening for the Desert Dwellers live in Portland, and the legendary "Get Freaky" in SF.
