Joe Crookston and Emily Kurn
Joe Crookston's music and songwriting is deeply rooted in the grand celebration of life, death, ancestry and the interconnectedness of us all. His music draws from his rural Ohio roots and exudes a remarkable intergenerational, universal, and timeless quality.
His keen musicianship as guitarist, clawhammer banjo player, fiddler, singer and songwriter fuse contemporary and traditional elements, with his crafted "Neruda-esque" writing style.
His release Fall Down as the Rain, was chosen by Performing Songwriter Magazine as a 2004 "TOP-12-Do-It-Yourself" independent recording, and two of his songs recently won runner-up in the folk category in the prestigious National John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

Based in Anchorage, Alaska, Emily Kurn has created a steady presence in the folk music world and on folk and roots radio charts. As sparkling and engaging in her writing as she is onstage, Emily is "one of the exciting voices of folk music". (Miles of Music).
Kurn has earned a host of honors including 2nd place in the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival Songwriting Contest, performing as a Kerrville New Folk Finalist, Honorable Mention in the prestigious International Songwriting Competition Americana Category, and 2nd place in the Susquehana Music and Arts Fest Songwriter's Contest.
When she's not wowing audiences from Alaska to New York, she's kicking someone's butt in Scrabble. So watch out.
