Pinpoint: an evening of dance
pinpoint includes three world premieres and fosters the talent of the Bay Area's finest artists.
Dancers: Alex Bradshaw, Kristina Kirshner, Sara Love, Helen Nowik, Ildiko Polony, Risa Larson, and Lizanne Roman join Courage group's ensemble of actors Wendy Earl, Michael Bulatao, and set designer Gary Hutton, to form a provocative and resonant evening of fine art. In addition, UC Irvine's Masters of Dance Melanie King and Caleb Mitchell as well as New York City's Isabel Gotzkowsky and John Zimmerman will fortify the cast of excellent dancers.
The program, pinpoint, includes an epic work by the same name. This piece is a complex commentary using movement metaphor to define or pinpoint pivotal moments that determine the cementing or unraveling of personal relationships.
Through the manipulation of light, spoken narrative imposed over music, and choreographic choices governed by the unusual depth of the Artaud venue, a tapestry of love and loss, will and surrender, is carefully woven.
In addition to pinpoint, two other premieres will complete the evenings programming. Love Handel and infinite mercy.
Love Handel is a neoclassical group piece danced blithely to music by Georg Friedrich Handel while the elements of light, wind and wetness swirl and shift around the performers . The coexistence of routine and shifting elements reflect a pervasive collective denial in the face of environmental calamity.
infinite mercy, a requiem infused with the recurring motifs of death, rebirth and epiphany will complete the evening.
