Ensemble Music Society 5 Concert Season
The Ensemble Music Society 2013/2014 Season features five exciting concerts that include a world premiere, a percussion and two piano concert, and an all Bartók program by Takács, one of today's most sought after quartets, and much more:
OCTOBER 11, 2013--THE JUILLIARD STRING QUARTET will perform portions of the J. S. Bach Art of the Fugue, a world premiere by Jesse Jones and Beethoven's "Razumovsky" Quartet in C Major, Op. 59, No. 3
NOVEMBER 14, 2013--THIRD COAST PERCUSSION WITH DANIEL SCHLOSBERG AND AMY BRIGGS, PIANOS performing Fractalia by Owen Clayton Condon, the George Crumb Music for a Summer Evening, and Augusta Read Thomas' Resounding Earth.
FEBRUARY 26, 2014--THE EBÈNE QUARTET present a program devoted to music by Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Schumann. This French quartet made a big impression on Indianapolis audiences during their first visit to our series and we are excited to have them back.
MARCH 19, 2014--Another European group makes a return visit to the series, this time from Germany. THE ARTEMIS QUARTET had won a Gramophone Award for performances of Brahms so we will present two Brahms quartets and one by Kurtág on this program.
APRIL 16, 2014--we present a program devoted to three quartets by Béla Bartók performed by TAKÁCS QUARTET, whose Hungarian members studied the composer's students and colleagues. Takács is among the most critically admired quartets performing in the world today. Tickets are in high demand wherever they perform around the world. Their series in Boulder, CO sells out two nights of each concert to season tickets buyers. Don't miss this concert or any of our 70th season.
