Art of Food 2013
Slow Food St. Louis, a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating and supporting food traditions, is pleased to announce that their annual fundraiser, Art of Food, will be held on Friday, September 20th, from 6:30 to 10:00 pm, at the Lumen (2201 Locust St, 63103). Proceeds from the event will benefit Slow Food St. Louis' production of over 50 educational events, films, Truck Farm visits and tastings each year, as well as their innovative Small Farm Biodiversity Micro-Grant program, which over the past four years has awarded approximately $50,000 to local, sustainable farmers to grow or raise more than 250 different heirloom varieties of produce and heritage breeds of animals.
Art of Food will showcase the area's top restaurants, serving up delectable hors d'oeuvres using as many fresh, local ingredients as possible, all prepared in the Slow Food tradition.
Participating restaurants and chefs include: Home Wine Kitchen/Table (Cassy Vires), Sidney Street Café (Kevin Nashan), Farmhaus (Kevin Willmann), Kaldi's Coffee (Tyler Zimmer), Companion Bakery (Josh Allen), The Crossing (Jim Fiala), Sanctuaria (Christopher Lee), Perennial Artisan Ales (Claire Mendez & Kaleigh Brundick), Libertine (Josh Galliano), Culinary Institute of St. Louis at Hickey College (Chris Dessens), Craft Restaurants (Gerard Craft), Kakao Chocolate (Brian Pelletier), Bailey's Chocolate Bar (David Bailey), Franco (Tom Schmidt), Salume Beddu (Mark Sanfilippo), Entre (John Perkins), and 4 Seasons Bakery (Aaron & Agi Groff). As in years past, we will host a silent auction with local food gift baskets as well as some food related art pieces. NEW this year will be our street fair set up outside of the event so you might peruse booths and learn more about our sponsors and local food colture, organizations and events. While we will have a cash bar, a number of local wineries and breweries will be in the indoor, upstairs terrace offering tastings.
Tickets Details: $65 Early Entry at 6:00 pm $40 General Admission at 6:30 pm $25 Late Entry at 8:00 pm (food likely but not guaranteed) (Members receive $10 discount on all ticket prices)
