World Savvy's 6th Annual Fall Fundraiser & Auction
Each year World Savvy hosts a fundraiser to support our programs which educate and engage youth in community and world affairs. Youth from diverse backgrounds collaboratively address global challenges which affect all communities rich and poor, local and global. They develop critical thinking and academic skills; learn how to think rather than what to think; are encouraged to be proactive citizens in their neighborhoods, communities and the world. Join us at this year's event and become a part of a brighter future for us all.
World Savvy has grown this past year to a national organization with offices in San Francisco, New York and Minneapolis where we are running three programs for middle and high school students and their teachers. We have also launched a new service, The Global Affairs Monitor for students, teachers and the curious global citizen:
1. The Global Youth Media and Arts Program is an arts and media education program which allows youth to use their own lives and communities as a platform to examine the global theme, Immigration and Identity.
2. The World Affairs Challenge is an academic program and competition on international affairs.
3. The Global Educators Program is a comprehensive professional development program that builds the content knowledge, skills, and capacity of educators to consistently integrate contemporary world affairs into teaching.
The Global Affairs Monitor is a subscription-based current affairs service offering an in-depth synopsis of one issue or region each month. www.monitor.worldsavvy.org.
To keep apace with so much growth, we have expanded our annual fundraiser. We outgrew ourselves last year and have moved to the Hotel Kabuki in San Francisco's Japantown. The evening will begin with a silent auction and appetizers, then move to the main room for a buffet dinner, performances by World Savvy youth and a live auction emceed by well-known local, Durwood Zedd.
We are looking forward to a phenomenal evening and hope you can join us!
