Trace the development of tea from its origins in China to the emergence of chado - the Way of Tea in Japan. The two hour cultural experience for small groups will be offered at intervals throughout the afternoon, starting in the Chinese Garden with a discussion of brewing techniques and tasting of Chinese teas and culminating in a participatory tea ceremony in the Japanese Garden. $25 per person. Price includes guided tour of the Liu Fang Yuan Chinese Garden, a demonstration of preparation and sampling of Chinese teas, a guided tour of the Seifu-an Teahouse, and participation in a Japanese tea ceremony with tea sweets and a bowl of matcha green powdered tea. (Note: For non-Members, general admission is a separate required cost.)
Please check-in at the entrance of the Liu Fang Yuan Chinese Garden 15 minutes prior to the start of your tea experience to receive your tickets & registration materials.
