AATC MasterClass: You've Finished Your Play, Now What?
Join us for a master class with professional theater artists who will help take your completed play to the next stage. What happens once your fingers are off the keyboard? Who will read it? Where? This one day seminar will show you what the professionals do to prepare their play for production.
In this workshop we'll cover: -Preparing For The First Read-Through: What to bring, what to listen for. -Collaborate, not Co-Write: How to use the talent (directors, actors, etc) as collaborators. -Walk an Aisle in Theirs Shoes: Experiencing the play as an audience does. Or might. -Note taking: To note or not to note. And what to do with them once you've taken them. -Fielding Feedback: From collaborators, audience, your mother.
Conducted by: Norman Gee (OAKLAND PUBLIC THEATER), Jeannie Barroga, Playwright/Instructor, Conrad Cimarra (SFMT, 'The Debut'), Alan Quismorio (Crowded Fire, 'One Big Lie'), and others.
Requirements: paper, pens/pencils, laptops are handy, portable printer is even handier; a minimum 3-page scene you have been working on.
Vietnamese lunch is included.
