Summer Classics Series At The Actors Studio of Newburyport ,A Staged Reading of Ellen McLaughlin's Lysistrata
A Staged Reading of Ellen McLaughlin's Lysistrata. July 26, 27, 28th. Friday and Saturday 8 pm, Sunday 7pm. Directed by Anna Smulowitz and featuring live, improvised music by cellist Kristen Miller.
Ellen McLaughlin created this script to be performed at Brooklyn Academy of Music as part of the 2003 Lysistrata Project, a worldwide protest against the burgeoning war in Iraq. This is a short, sweet version of the Aristophanes play which was a truly funny, if ancient, anti-war play. Kristen Miller is an innovative composer, cellist and performance artist whose work magically connects us more deeply while taking us to new places.
The Summer Classics Series made possible by a generous grant from The Harpley Foundation.
Wheel chair accessible: Water Street entrance.
