51 & COUNTING
FOOTLOOSE presents in association with the San Francisco Fringe Festival 51 & COUNTING (because 50 jobs are not enough), a musical comedy about finding the perfect
Everyone's had a few jobs--Mary Ann's had 51! Fresh from this year's Footloose Women on the Way Festival, this original, one-woman, musical comedy portrays Mary Ann's meltdowns and comebacks with passion, flair and comic timing. Between day jobs, she honed her professional stand up comedy, musical and theater chops in shows and clubs from Chicago to Tacoma and got her Equity card performing in Menopause the Musical at Seattle's ACT Theatre. She is a founding member of the acclaimed San Francisco acapela group, Screaming Divas. Despite her employment addiction, Mary Ann really just wants to be loved.
"From California cuisine server to pre-school teacher to phone-sex responder to real estate agent to cabaret singer, Ms. Boyd manages to juggle this multi-faceted routine with spot-on-timing, lightning speed and a great singing voice. Light-hearted and entertaining, 51 & Counting makes you realize that even the worst of job opportunities have potential for comic treatment, and if anyone can mine the gold from the dross, Mary Ann Boyd can do it." Linda Ayres-Frederick, SF Bay Times review for Footloose's Eighth Annual Women on the Way Festival, January 2008 at Shotwell Studios, San Francisco
Mary Ann Boyd has spent the majority of the last two years playing Earth Mother or Power Woman in Menopause the Musical at Seattle's ACT Theatre. 51 & Counting got its start at Seattle's Mae West Fest and a run at Stone Soup Theatre. Ms. Boyd has performed in fringe, community, and regional theatre all over the western United States, written sketch comedy with Chicagolands Gag Reflex and was a founding member of the San Francisco acapella group, Screaming Divas.
