In Mud, Maria Irene Fornes takes her characteristically unwavering look at the stark realities that exist for the poor and disenfranchised. As a visual artist and a playwright, Fornes uses her painter's eye to create a powerful imagistic portrait of three characters locked in a cycle of interdependence and conflict.
