Rossini - Petite Messe solennelle
The English Chamber Choir perform Rossini's glorious Petite Messe solennelle in the splendid setting of Holy Trinity Sloane Street.
Somehow this arts and crafts designed church is a very fitting setting for Rossini's composition, written for the dedication of a private chapel in Paris With typical ironic wit, the Mass is neither 'Petite' (taking around 75 minutes in performance) nor 'Solennelle' its style being rather reminiscent of salon music!
It is a glorious work with typical Rossini rhythms - performed here by one of London's top choirs conducted by Guy Protheroe with piano and harmonium accompaniment by Rebecca Taylor and William Vann.
The many solo and quartet sections will be performed by members of the choir.
Our Premium seat holders will enjoy a glass of wine before the concert which will last around one hour fifteen minutes without an interval
The English Chamber Choir is one of London's leading and busiest vocal ensembles and for over 40 years it has been at the forefront of London's musical life, led by music director Guy Protheroe. In this programme the Choir is joined by its two assistant conductors, Rebecca Taylor and William Vann who will provide the accompaniment.
