Rina Yamazaki Trio
I'm pleased to present pianist Rina Yamazaki and her trio again. She played a wonderful sold-out Mandorla show at the Mission Hill pop-up ARTSpace last year.
Now based in Brooklyn, Rina is originally from Saitama, Japan. Before coming to the US to study at Berklee, Rina had the honor of studying with the great pianist Makoto Ozone.
In June 2018, she was awarded 2nd place in the Ellis Marsalis International Jazz PIano Competition, where she also received the Chico and Lupe O'Farrill Award for Best Original Composition. Since then, she's performed at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola and other New York clubs, appeared as a guest with Jon Batiste's Stay Human on the Stephen Colbert show, and toured Japan. We're glad to welcome her back to Boston!
